What is the USI?
The USI is a randomly generated alpha‐numeric code that can be applied for online and at no cost to the student. That code (USI) will stay with that individual student for life and be recorded with any nationally recognised VET course that is undertaken from 2015 onwards.
Why do I need a USI?
Any student who undertakes nationally recognised VET courses from 1st January 2015 onwards will need to have a USI in order to receive their qualification or statement of attainment. The USI is a compulsory requirement that has been implemented by the Australian Government.
Please provide your USI number to Down to Earth at the time of enrolment.
What benefits does the USI provide?
From 2015, the USI initiative will:
- Seamlessly link information about a student’s VET achievements, regardless of where they studied;
- Enable students to access secure digital transcripts of their achievements;
- Give students access to, and more control over, their educational information;
- Allow RTO’s (with student’s permission) to access & verify a student’s academic record (can be beneficial for RPL purposes).
